My Contribution

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I believe to live a purposeful, useful and honorable life we must contribute to the world we live in. There is a multitude of ways in which we can do this but I think it's important to find something uniquely special to yourself so that you find joy and passion in the time and energy you put into your contributions.

In 2012 when I returned home from my trip to Bali I put my intention out into the universe to find MY way of contributing to the world I live in. That's when I was introduced to Madison "Peach" Steiner, founder of Peach's Neet Feet and joined her on her mission straight away. Peach’s Neet Feet donates custom, hand-painted shoes to children living with disabilities and fighting serious illnesses. Every shoe is customized to complement each child’s life, interest, and courageous fight. These personalized, one of a kind gifts lift the spirits of children and their families. When a child is fighting an illness, the whole family is impacted. With the web of caring individuals and the gift of personalized shoes, families are supported and strengthened.

Since joining Peach's Neet Feet I've been inspired to contribute more. My Recipe for a Full Heart Project was a creation of words, illustrated as a daily reminder to myself of how I can live my greatest vision of what is possible. I decided to share the recipe by printing the design on shirts I sold and then donating the proceeds to a variety of people and organizations throughout 2013. With the help of friends, family and supporters we were able to rase over $1000 to donate that year.

In case you're looking to volunteer near Folsom, CA, another amazing non-profit I've had the great pleasure of working with is Sweet Dreams Foundation plus I LOVE the JUMP mentorship program at Theodore Judah Elementary.

I'm always looking for more ways to contribute so if you have any ideas please contact me but my absolute favorite way is through random acts of kindness. These can be performed at any time from anywhere you just have to keep an eye out for the little opportunities that exist in everyday life.
